His goals were to breed fragrant doubles (In Excess, Heaven Scent, Sweet Jeunesse etc), bold-coloured varieties (Maleny Sizzler. Shocking, Crikey), long-flowering yellows (Sunline, Perliffic, Maleny Bonanza) and miniatures (Maleny Flirt, Little Bit Lively, Maleny Sweet Delight).
